Vettel to Ferrari?

A lot of people seem displeased. But the likelihood of it happening is high - possibly. Massa is well past his best and has been inconsistent - good results are only just coming to him, but in terms of being an investment he’s not delivered much of a return on what Ferrari are spending on him. So why keep him on? Why not bring in a new, better driver to develop like Bianchi or Di Resta who by 2014 will be delivering top results? They would become a good return on the investment Ferrari put into them because they are young and cheap, but also fast. The only reason that seems logical at this moment in time is because a big driver is going to the team in 2014. So why did they keep Massa on? Because he knows the car and his results have been improving - perfect to fill the gap rather than bring in a young driver who will take time to adjust - and Ferrari want the results more than a cheap driver - they aren’t exactly poor and the points matter to them more, as well as someone who they know will back up Fernando if need be. As for the 2014 driver - I’m about 80% sure it’s Vettel, but don’t discount Kubica either - good friends with Fernando, mega quick and what a team to be a part of if he does comeback. At the moment, the rumored contract is supposed to be a ‘maybe’ contract - being taken as if Ferrari do well, Vettel goes there (although I see that as totally pointless because the engines will change in 2014), but the maybe contract could be a ‘whether you are fit enough to race’ ‘maybe-contract for Kubica?

Timo and Seb :)
